2017 Immigration Gold Showcase
The 2017 recipients are Beca Group, NIWA and Pik Pok.....
Beca Group
Beca is one of the largest employee-owned professional services companies in the Asia-Pacific. With ten offices throughout New Zealand, Beca offers plenty of options for migrant workers keen to hone their skills.
The strategy to attract staff includes global advertising campaigns, often in local languages, extensive use of social media platforms such as LinkedIn, and running events around the world, with the assistance of Immigration New Zealand. These approaches will also lead to candidate referrals – a methodology that’s proving a great way to recruit.
Candidates are asked to interview the company instead of the other way round – to make sure the job, and the location is right for
NIWA - National Institute of Water & Atmospheric Research
At NIWA, they do some pretty special things of the scientific kind. And sometimes, because the scientific community here is quite small, they need to look for specific expertise elsewhere.
And that’s why having accredited employer status is so important. It’s efficient, effective … and speedy – which is important when you want to attract the right person for the right job that needs doing right now.
Not that attracting them is an issue. NIWA’s reputation, and indeed New Zealand’s reputation, means that potential employees are almost queuing up to join the team.
And because NIWA is already quite multicultural, they know what it takes to help people settle in – including accommodation and support networks.

Pik Pok
The people at PikPok love games and since 2009 they’ve been making quality mobile games for the whole world to enjoy.
The team, based here in Wellington, is made up of talented folk from all over the globe.
Back when game development was new, Pik Pok gained momentum by bringing in people from overseas to complement their local talent base. And they still do.
Pik Pok’s hiring programme – they call it on-boarding - is as streamlined as possible so everyone who arrives can hit the ground running – and not just at the office.
Pik Pok makes sure all new arrivals have a practical understanding of all aspects of New Zealand life, long before they get here.
